Hi friends!
If you wish to finish more music, try out these chord techniques or get inspired by amazing music community... my 12 Days of Creativity music production challenge has begun. This is a free challenge running on LNA’s Patreon from October 27 to December 12, 2025. All you need to do is be a free member to join. You’ll get 12 prompts designed to spark ideas, build creative confidence, and help you finish tracks. We’ll share progress in the Patreon chat group, connect with other producers, and celebrate at a final Listening Party with giveaway prizes.
Let's learn some chords:
You can open Ableton and follow along with this quick video tutorial. I love how this design approach adds fullness and atmosphere to any track. If you are feeling a creative block, or just want to learn a new way to start a track, this is a great way to get started with creating something in just five minutes. :)
What you’ll learn:
How to use the Chord Oscillator in Meld
What Shape and Inversion really do
How to add dynamic modulation with Scrambler LFO
How to make your chords sound professional with minimal effort
Steps:
Go to instruments
Pick Meld
Add some MIDI notes. I use C, E, G, D
Pick chord oscillator
Shape allows you to control how far apart the notes in the chord are
Inversion changes which notes on top or bottom
Activate current scale button: everything we do will be in C Major.
Oscillator A
LFO
LFO Effects: select Scrambler from drop down menu
add it into Matrix so it modulates one control in Meld
Click Filter frequency so you can select
Now go into Matrix
Drag and drop into LFO 1 FX to connect the Filter Frequency to LFO FX
To adjust speed, adjust rate knob
We can also add Oscillator B to make it a chord
Use the Filter frequency on Osc B so there's a distinction between the two
Go into A Filter Frequency, and take it down. You can see it modulates the chord even more
For finishing touches, I add a little bit of spread, and drive
Add hybrid reverb!
