Ableton Live 12.2 Is Out Now – Here’s What You Need to Know

Ableton just dropped the 12.2 update, and it comes with some really exciting new tools and improvements. You can check out the full list on their site here: Ableton Live 12.2 release notes.
One of the highlights for me is definitely Meld’s new chord oscillator. This opens up a whole new way of creating harmonically rich sounds, layering textures, and pushing ideas further without having to build everything note by note.

What’s New in Ableton Live 12.2?
1. Bounce to New Track
Instantly resample clips or time selections—including all effects—onto a new audio track, making it easy to consolidate ideas and manage CPU usage effortlessly.
2. All-New Auto Filter
A complete redesign with:
Fresh visual layout and real-time spectral display
Mono stereo frequency modulation visualization
Creative filter types: DJ, Comb, Vowel, Morph (with slope options and morphing), Resampling, and Notch + LP filters
Updated filter circuits: SVF (clean/distortion), DFM (drive-heavy), MS2 (Sallen‑Key analog style), PRD (ladder-style analog)
Expanded modulation: new LFO shapes (Wander, Ramp Up/Down), LFO Morph, Smoothing in S&H, quantized and sampled LFO modes, envelope follower with Attack Hold, sidechain mono summing, sidechain EQ, Drum Sampler “Hold = Inf”, Drift device “Hi‑Quality” option
Library enhancements with new presets for Auto Filter, Roar, tuning fixes, and Meld chord oscillator presets
3. Expressive Chords (Max for Live Device)
A new MPE-enabled device (via Packs) that lets you play rich, dynamic chords from a single note using 52 chord sets and expressive MIDI/MPE control.

New Delay routing mode
Dispersion filter type
External audio side‑chain input
MIDI sidechain to play feedback pitch in Note mode
5. Meld Enhancements
Four‑voice Chord oscillator with modulation for chord shape/inversion and scale‑awareness
New Scrambler LFO effect
6. Resonators & Spectral Resonator Upgrades
Support for Live 12’s scale awareness and tuning systems, plus Spectral Resonator adds a harmonic Quantize feature.
7. Improved Browser Experience
New Quick Tags panel for viewing, editing, and assigning tags directly
Customizable icons for labels and user folders
Multi-column metadata view
Cleaner, more discoverable filter view
8. Push Enhancements
16 Pitches layout: transform one-shots into melodic, MPE-friendly sequences across octaves
Follow Actions: better clip/scene sequencing tools
Full access to Groove Pool and Tuning Systems from Push, plus Bounce to New Track
External Audio Effect device now available on Push
9. Move 1.5 Updates
Sample slicing in Drum Racks
Auto Filter (with new types and presets) added to Move, including performance-friendly controls
